Pompey travelled into Sweden for the second match of their Scandinavian tour – and thrashed hosts Halmstad 6-1.
Paris Cowan-Hall hit a hat-trick while there were also goals for Peter Gregory, Nadir Ciftci and Dominique Pandor as the Blues youngsters ran riot.
Pompey’s passing and movement was too much for their Swedish counterparts, who were indebted to keeper Viktor Kristiansson for ensuring the scoreline was not even more emphatic.
The Blues opened the scoring after 15 minutes when COWAN-HALL arrived at the far post to convert Lennard Sowah’s cross.
CIFTCI then doubled the advantage just three minutes later when he cut inside and drove a great shot past Kristiansson.
Pompey went 3-0 up on 40 minutes after a beautiful ball from Pandor sent roving right-back GREGORY through on goal. The defender produced a stunning lob that flew over Kristiansson and into the net.
COWAN-HALL got the fourth moments before the interval, after playing a neat one-two with Ciftici and burying the ball into the bottom corner.
Half Time: Halmstad 0 Pompey 4
COWAN-HALL completed his hat-trick five minutes into the second half, side-footing the ball home after being played through by Gautier Mohoto.
PANDOR then made it 6-0 with a shot that sailed in over Kristiansson.
Viktor Bakkioui pulled a goal back for the Swedes 15 minutes from the end with a low drive past Liam O’Brien but by that time Pompey were comfortably out of sight.
Pompey: O’Brien, Gregory, Sowah (Hughes 55), Pack (Kilbey 46), Reynolds, Woodford, Pandor, Mohoto, Ciftici (Blackman 55), Nlundulu, Cowan-Hall (Collins 55)
Academy Coach Ian Woan was delighted to see his young side continue their tour with such a comprehensive victory.
He said: “You can only beat the team that’s put in front of you and we stuck to our task well in what was a really hot day.
“Our passing and movement were excellent – that was a real positive to take from the game.”
