Armand Traore Joins Blues

Armand Traore has joined Pompey from Arsenal on a season-long loan. The Blues have paid Arsenal a loan fee to secure the 18-year-old Frenchman. Traore can play either at left-back or on the left side of midfield. Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie said: “We’re delighted that Armand has decided to join us for the season. There were half-a-dozen other clubs interested in signing him on loan. “He’s strong and quick and a player that Harry has admired since seeing him play for Arsenal’s first team last season.” Traore joined the Gunners from Monaco in the summer of 2005 and has made 18 appearances for the north London club. He started Arsenal’s Carling Cup final defeat to Chelsea at the Millennium Stadium in February 2007.
