Storrie Looks Forward To Freedom Honour

Portsmouth Chief Executive Peter Storrie has today spoken of the great honour being bestowed upon the team and former manager Harry Redknapp as they look forward to receiving the Freedom of the City of Portsmouth. Pompey will receive the prestigious accolade at the Guildhall this afternoon as the City Council recognises the historic FA Cup triumph last May. Peter Storrie said: “It’s a wonderful and fitting gesture to everyone that played a part in the team’s FA Cup success. “The whole city enjoyed the cup run and just about everyone who lives in Portsmouth came out to see the trophy paraded on the day after our Wembley victory. “It was a very special moment and it’s a memory that will stay with all of us forever.” He added: “The whole squad played their part and I’m delighted they will be there to receive their rightful honour, along with Harry. “Although he has now moved onto Spurs, we must not forget what a great job Harry did for us in establishing Portsmouth as a Premier League club and bringing the FA Cup back to Fratton Park after nearly 70 years. “He will quite rightfully collect the Freedom of the City for giving, not just football fans, but the whole of the city, one of the most memorable days of their lives. “I’m sure all supporters will respect this.”
