Ladies Looking Forward To Quarter-Final
Posted on October 31st, 2008 by Pompey
Tomorrow’s match will be an important date for Pompey Ladies, having reached the Women’s Premier League Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history.
They will host Premier League Northern Division side Preston North End at Cams Alder, Fareham as they aim to progress through to the semi-finals.
And manager Vanessa Raynbird is eagerly awaiting kick-off.
“It’s a big game for us,” she said. “We will be going into the match in a confident mood.
“We had a good game last week and if we play as well as we did against Charlton, then I think we can beat anyone.
“Preston are at the bottom of their division, which is supposedly the equivalent of ours but we can’t assume anything.
“The northern league is much more physical, so it is going to be a tough game but I think we are more than capable of handling that.
“It’s the first time we’ve reached the quarter-finals of this competition, so the girls are really looking forward to it.
“It’s going to be a great occasion for us and hopefully we will have plenty of support on the day.”
The match kicks-off at 1pm. Entry is £2 for adults, £1 for senior citizens and children, but Pompey season ticket holders can get in free.
