Defoe Excited By Bristol City Tie
Posted on November 30th, 2008 by Pompey
Pompey have been drawn at home to Bristol City in the third round of the FA Cup.
And it is a draw that excites Blues striker Jermain Defoe as Pompey begin the defence of the trophy they claimed against Cardiff in May.
Defoe is out to get Pompey to Wembley again - but this time he wants to be on the pitch, not watching from the dugout.
The forward missed out on Pompey's cup run because he had already played for Spurs in the competition that season.
He said: It's a fantastic draw. No disrespect to Bristol City but we’re at home and we’ve got fantastic fans.
It’s going to be a tough game. It’s the FA Cup and they’re going to be up for it, but I’m really looking forward to it.
I can’t wait for it to start after last season. It was nice to be a part of it and to see the boys lift the cup but hopefully I can do it this year!
Blues boss Tony Adams said: It's great to have a home tie. Bristol City are a good footballing side and Gary Johnson has got a good outfit there.
It should be a cracking game of football.
The Blues will host the Championship side at Fratton Park on the weekend of Saturday, January 3 and Sunday, January 4 2009 as they begin their defence of the trophy.
