Ladies Draw With Truro
Posted on February 28th, 2009 by Pompey
Pompey drew 1-1 at Truro – just seven days after sharing six goals with the Cornish side at Cams Alders.
The Blues started strongly and both Cassie Thorp and Kirsty McGee hit the post for the visitors.
But they had to wait until after the interval to break the deadlock, with Lisa LANGRISH firing home on 58 minutes.
Pompey continued to dominate their hosts but had to settle for a point after Truro grabbed a late leveller.
Manager Vanessa Raynbird (pictured) said: “I’m obviously disappointed to concede so late on, but I was pleased with the overall performance.
“We played some nice football and there was a big improvement from the previous game.
“On another day we would have taken all three points but it’s not a bad result and we can take a lot from the game.
“A draw keeps us in the mix and now we’ve got a run of home games coming up, which gives us a good chance to push ahead and get some good results.”
Pompey: Thompson, Fisher, Murphy, Crewe, Hier, Clark, Rutherford, McGee (c), Thorp, Ritchie (Hillier), Langrish
