Pompey Academy 3 Charlton Academy 0
Pompey Academy eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory against their Charlton counterparts at the Wellington Sports Ground.
Both Pablo Navas Alors and Paris Cowan-Hall (pictured) went close to breaking the deadlock for the Blues early in the game.
But the Londoners almost grabbed the opener on the break with Liam O’Brien doing well to keep out Lewis Perkins’ powerful strike.
However, it was the hosts who opened the scoring just before the interval. Marlon Pack’s shot crashed against the upright but COWAN-HALL reacted first to convert the loose ball.
Half Time: Pompey 1 Charlton 0
Charlton almost levelled early in the second half but Perkins fired wide after James Hurst’s poor back-pass saw him race through on goal.
Pompey were soon back on the attack again however, and Danny BOGARD doubled their advantage with a close-range header from Marlon Pack’s pass.
Tom KILBEY then added a third when he raced into the box to meet Gautier Mahoto’s pinpoint cross and head home.
Nadir Ciftci went close to adding a fourth at the death but he shot narrowly wide after turning neatly in the area.
