Fratton Park amp; Ride

Pompey have teamed up with Portsmouth City Council to offer fans a new, convenient way of getting to Fratton Park for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal. As part of the city’s park and ride service, buses will travel directly to the ground from Lakeside, North Harbour for the 3pm kick-off. Buses will arrive/depart Fratton from outside the Lidl supermarket on Goldsmith Avenue. This service is a one-off trial that is being funded by the club, but if it proves to be a success then it could be repeated next season. The park and ride service costs just £2.50 per car (up to seven passengers). The first bus will leave Lakeside, North Harbour at 12pm and the last bus will return from Fratton at 7pm. Director of media and communications Gary Double said: “Anything that can ease congestion in the city on a matchday and make life easier for the fans has to be to everyone’s advantage.” Meanwhile, the regular park and ride service, launched by the council earlier this month, is available to shoppers and visitors heading for central Portsmouth and its attractions. The service runs on Saturdays and bank holidays (including this Monday). Buses go from the park and ride site at Lakeside, North Harbour to the city centre shops, Gunwharf Quays shopping centre, the Spinnaker Tower and the Historic Dockyard.
