Blues Sign Brown

Pompey have completed the signing of English midfielder Michael Brown from Wigan. The 32-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the option of a third year. Brown made four appearances for Pompey while on loan from Manchester City in 1999. And Blues boss Paul Hart is delighted that he is returning to the south coast. He said: “Michael’s a player who has shown he can perform at this level. “He’s very combative and someone I’ve admired for many years. “When he was playing for Sheffield United and I was at Nottingham Forest he was a player you didn’t want to come up against. “He’ll add plenty of quality and steel to our side.” Brown played 64 times for Wigan during his two-year spell with the Latics. Prior to that, he made 44 appearances for Fulham and a further 64 for Tottenham. He joined Spurs from Sheffield United in January 2004 after playing 174 times for the Blades and scoring 36 goals.
