Kanu Pens One-Year Deal
Posted on September 2nd, 2009 by Pompey
Kanu has signed a new one-year contract with Pompey.
The Nigeria international has racked up 21 goals in 98 appearances – 43 from the bench - since joining Pompey three years ago.
His most important one was notched at Wembley in May 2008, when the striker scored the only goal in Pompey’s FA Cup win over Cardiff City in May 2008.
He also began his Pompey career in style, netting twice on his debut against Blackburn at Fratton Park.
Although the striker has yet to hit the back of the net this season, the former Ajax, Inter Milan, Arsenal and West Brom man scored twice last season – and both goals were significant.
The first was against AC Milan in Pompey’s 2-2 UEFA Cup draw at Fratton Park. The second was also scored at the Fratton end and was the only goal in a vital 1-0 win over Bolton in April.
